The CDG committee is absolutely delighted with the 300 + surveys handed in, and the ideas on the suggestions board in the hall, particularly because so many people took great time and effort in contributing their thoughts and ideas about what Community Facilities Chirnside needs.
It is almost needless to say that improved facilities at the Community Centre featured very clearly in peoples thoughts, but lots of ideas and lots of inspiration in them as well.
The committee is currently collating all the results of the survey

Chirnside Development Group organised a Community Centre Open Day, on Saturday the 29th of October this year.
The Chirnside Development Group committee would like to thank everybody who helped make the Community Centre Open Day such a success. So many people came to volunteer to help, manning stalls, giving presentations, doing kids activities and providing refreshments that we can't name them all, but the 300+ people who came along on the day were left in no doubt that Chirnside is a thriving Community with much to be proud of!

The 'Chirnside 2011' Photography competition was a great success, with 50 entries to see on the day, we are particularly grateful to the three professional judges, Derek Hood, Jim Gibson and Phil McLean who did such a good job of judging and provided comprehensive notes and thoughts on each photograph.
Please go to the Photo Competition page to find out who won and to see the winning entry and 4 'Highly Commended' entries.
The fascinating history of Chirnside was a main feature of the open day, with our theme of 'Taking Pride in Chirnside', presenting displays on the themes of 1711, 1811, 1911, 2011 & the future.
Visitors were ask to stick up a note with ideas for community activities and uses for the Community Centre. This picture shows how many people have ideas for the village.

"The Life of David Hume - an illustrated sketch" was on throughout the day and at 4 pm Mr Fenton Robb gave an illustrated talk on "David Hume in everyday life".

Please contact the committee if you would like to be involved in the development of community facilities in Chirnside.
